      Step 1: In order to configure recording, you must log into the Web Interface of your camera. 

      Click- How do I log into my mydlink camera?


      Step 2: Click on the Setup Tab and then click on SD Management on the left side

      Note: You must format the installed SD card to allow the DCS-942L to read it. Formatting will cause all data on the SD card to be erased.

      Step 3:  Click on Format SD Card

      Check to Enable


          Trigger by:

               Always- Record 24/7

               Motion: Record only when motion is enabled (Note: Motion detection must be configured)

               Schedule: Record on user-defined schedule


          Recording type:

               Snapshot: Record my taking snap shots

               Video: Record by capturing video

               Recording Length: Specify how long each video file will be (1-6 minutes per file)


          SD Card:

                Keep free Space: Specify how much space to leave on the SD Card

                Cyclic: Will cause the oldest folder/files to be deleted when space is needed for more recording.


      Click Save Settings

      Viewing/Playback

      Playback can be done directly from the mydlink portal or you can download the files to a computer for local playback.


      Viewing on mydlink Portal

      Step 1:
      Log into your mydlink account at www.mydlink.com

      Step 2: Select your DCS-942L and click Playback

      - Give the recording a Name (Ie. Driveway recording)

      - Enable the Recording


      Recording Schedule

      Specify your desired schedule


      Recording Settings

      - Select Destination SD 

      - -Enter a file name prefix (This will be added to the recording file name)


      Click Save Settings



      Viewing/Playback

      Step 1: In order to configure recording, you must log into the Web Interface of your camera. 

      Click- How do I log into my camera?


      Step 2: Click the Setup Icon



      Step 3: Click Advanced Setup



      Step 4: Click Recording > Local Storage


      - Click Format to format the SD card (if the SD card has already been formatted by the camera, skip this step)




      Step 5: Modify the SD Card control if needed



      Step 6: To Configure continuous recording (Not trigger based):


          - Click Recording > Recording Settings

          - Click Add



      Configure the Recording:


              - Enter a Recording name and enable the recording

              - Set Recording Schedule

              - Select Destination- SD


      - Click Save


      The recording is configured.


      To configure recording to SD based on an Event Trigger:


          - Click Event Management > Event Settings

          - Under Media Settings, click Add



      - Enter a Name for the media (ie. Video Clips)

      - Specify what type of media you want to save (Snapshot/Video Clips)


      - Click Save


      - Under Event Settings, click Add



      - Enter a name for the event and enable it

      - Specify the event trigger type

      - Specify a schedule

      - Specify the recording to SD Card


      - Click Save



      - Setup is complete. Your camera is now recording to the SD Card.







      View/Playback Recorded Video


      Step 1: Click Recording > Local Storage


      Step 2: In the search area, specify the type of trigger to search for, and the time period


      Click Search


      Note: Leaving the time frame blank will provide all recordings



      Step 3: Select your recording and click the download button

      NOTE: This example shows the setup using Android OS. Apple/iOS setup should be the same/similar. 


      Step 1: Launch the mydlink lite app and Tap on your camera





      Step 2: Tap on the 3 dots on the top right hand side






      Step 3: Tap on Settings






      Step 4: Tap on Motion Detection






      Step 5: Turn on Motion detection and Click Active Area






      Step 6: Click on the grid to select the motion detection area and set the sensitivity


      NOTE: (Higher sensitivity makes motions easier to be detected. You may need to adjust this setting to calibrate it for the area you are monitoring)





      - Click the back button on your mobile device


      Step 7: Turn on Record by Motion Detection and click Apply





      Step 8: Click on Playback 






      Step 9: Select the date you want to view the SD card recording from






      Step 10: Select the time






      Step 11: Click on the clip to playback the recording
