Select the Mode you want to configure the DAP-1650 in:
- Extender Mode
- Access Point Mode
- Media Bridge Mode
Extender Mode
Step 1: Power on the DAP-1650
Step 2: Connect a computer (Desktop or Laptop) to any port on the back of the DAP-1650
Step 3: Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the DAP-1650 into the address bar. The default IP is http://192.168.0.50 or http://dlinkap
Step 4: You should be taken to the DAP-1650 setup wizard webpage. Click Next to begin.
Note: The setup wizard will only appear during the 1st time setup. If the Wizard does not appear, please factory reset the DAP-1650 - How do I reset my DAP-1650 to factory defaults?

Step 5: Next to Wireless Mode select Extender and click next
Step 6: Create a new wireless network and password for your New Extended network
Note: D-Link suggests keeping this different from your existing Wireless Network. Using a different wireless network name will allow you to easily determine which network you are connected to.
Step 7: The DAP-1650 will scan your area for wireless signals.
Select the wireless signal you want to extend and click Connect
Step 8: If the wireless signal you want to extend is Security enabled, enter its wireless security password and click Next

Step 9: Enter a new administrator password for the DAP-1650. (The default password is <blank>)
Note: This is not a wireless password. This password is strictly for accessing the DAP-1650 configuration page.
Step 10: Review your settings and click Finish.
The DAP-1650 will save and reboot, applying your new settings
Setup is now complete.
Note: Ensure to place the DAP-1650 in a area that has a good signal to your Existing Wireless signal./router. The DAP-1650 requires a good signal from your existing router in order to properly extend your signal.

Access Point Mode
Important Note: When configuring your DAP-1650 in Access Point mode and connecting it to an older wireless router, D-Link suggests you disable or turn off the wireless function on the router to prevent interference or confusion when connecting to your upgraded wireless signal (From the DAP-1650).

For non-D-Link routers, please contact the appropriate manufacture or provider for further assistance.

Note: This will be the name of the wireless signal you will connect to with your wireless devices.
Important Note: If you have not disabled the wireless feature on your existing router/network; D-Link suggests you configure the DAP-1650 with a different wireless name as your older wireless device. This will prevent confusion when trying to connect to your new upgraded signal from the DAP-1650.

Step 8: Enter a new administrator password for the DAP-1650. (The default password is <blank>)
Note: This is not a wireless password. This password is strictly for accessing the DAP-1650 configuration page.

Step 9: Select your time zone and click next

Step 10: Confirm your settings and click Finish

The DAP-1650 will save and reboot, applying your new settings
Setup is now complete.

Media Bridge mode
Step 1: Power on the DAP-1650
Step 2: Connect a computer (Desktop or Laptop) to any port on the back of the DAP-1650

Step 4: You should be taken to the DAP-1650 setup wizard webpage. Click Next to begin.

Step 5: Next to Wireless Mode select Media Bridge and click next
Step 6: The DAP-1650 will automatically scan for available wireless networks.
Select the wireless network you want to bridge and click Connect
Step 7: If the wireless network you intend to bridge is security enabled, enter its wireless password and click next.
Step 8: Enter a new administrator password for the DAP-1650. (The default password is <blank>)
Note: This is not a wireless password. This password is strictly for accessing the DAP-1650 configuration page.
Step 9: Confirm your Settings and click Finish
The DAP-1650 will save and reboot, applying your new settings
Setup is now complete.
