      Select the type of motion detection to configure:


      Note: Not all cameras support PIR motion detection


      1. Software/Video Motion Detection: Motion detection based on pixel change between frames




      2. PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor): Motion is detected when an "object" breaks the field which the PIR sensor has determined as the "Normal" thermal state.






      Configuring your DCS-942L for "Software/Video" Motion Detection


      Note: In order to configure Motion Detection, you must log into the Web Interface of your mydlink camera. 

      Click- How do I log into my mydlink camera?


      Step 1: Click on the Setup Tab and then click Motion Detection on the left side



      Step 2: Configure Motion Detection:


      Click Enable Video Motion


      - Draw a box around the areas of the frame you want to monitor for motion (Click, hold and drag the mouse around the specific area)

                  

      Note: Multiple areas can be selected


      - Specify your sensitivity (Higher sensitivity makes motions easier to be detected. You may need to adjust this setting to calibrate it for the area you are monitoring)


      Click Save Settings



      Step 3: Click on the Setup Tab and then click on Video Clip or Snapshot (depending on what you want to configure)




      Step 4:  Configure the Snapshot/Video Clip Rule:


      - Enable Snapshot/ Video Clip


      - Trigger by:


          - Motion- Snapshots will be sent when Motion is detected (Motion detection must be configured)

          - Schedule- Snapshots will be sent on a specified schedule

          - Always- Snapshots will be sent continuously at a specified interval

      Step 5: Click Test to check your settings. If the information is correct, you should receive a Send a test mail Successfully message

      Configure "PIR" Motion Detection


      Note: In order to configure PIR motion detection, you must log into the Web Interface of your mydlink camera. Click- How do I log into my mydlink camera?


      Step 1: Click on the Setup Tab and then click Motion Detection on the left side




      Step 2: Click Enable PIR

      Note: Using PIR enables motion detection on the whole frame. You cannot specify a particular zone.


      Click Save Settings



      Step 3: Click on the Setup Tab and then click on Video Clip or Snapshot (depending on what you want to configure)




      Step 4:  Configure the Snapshot/Video Clip Rule:


      - Enable Snapshot/ Video Clip


      - Trigger by:


          - Motion- Snapshots will be sent when Motion is detected (Motion detection must be configured)

          - Schedule- Snapshots will be sent on a specified schedule

          - Always- Snapshots will be sent continuously at a specified interval

          - Sound- Snapshots will be sent when Sound is detected (Sound detection must be configured)

      - Select the frames you want to monitor for motion

                  

      - Specify your sensitivity (Higher sensitivity makes motions easier to be detected. You may need to adjust this setting to calibrate it for the area you are monitoring)


      Click Save Settings





      The next step is to tell the camera to do something after motion has occurred. There are 3 different options:


      1. E-Mail Snapshots/images to a specified email account (see Below)

      2. E-Mail a Video Clip to a specified email account (see Below)

      3. Upload the video clips to an FTP Server- How to I upload files to my FTP server with my camera?                            


      Step 3: Click on the Setup Tab and then click Mail on the left side



      Step 4: Enter in your E-Mail provider details and Click Save Settings

      Step 5: At the bottom of the page, click on the Test button to check your email settings are correct

      - Under Basic information, the E-Mail Test Results will appear. (Note: You may need to refresh the page)


      - If your test has failed, check that the settings entered are correct



      Step 7: Click back on Setup on the top and Click Mail on the left side


      Under the time schedule:


      - Select if you want to enable Emailing of images or Video Clips 


      - Specify Motion Detection and configure as desired.


      Click Save Settings



      Setup is Complete. You will now be alerted via email, when motion is detected.

      Note: In order to configure Motion Detection, you must log into the Web Interface of your camera. 


      This Example demonstrates send Snapshots via e-mail when motion is detected.


      Ciick- How do I log into my camera?


      Step 1: Click the Setup Icon



      Step 2: Click Advanced Setup



      Step 3: Click Event Management > Motion Detection



      Step 4: Configure Motion detection:


      - Enable Motion Detection

      - Click New



      Step 5: Configure your motion area(s):


      - Draw a box around your motion zone

      - Enter a name for the zone

      - Specify the Sensitivity and Percentage

          - Sensitivity- defines how much motion has to occur to be considered actual motion (100 is very sensitive)

          - Percentage- The amount of the drawn motion window that needs to have motion in it to be considered actual motion (ie. If set to 100%, the whole zone would have to have motion in it. 50% would require half of the zone to have motion in it to trigger etc...)


      - Click Save


      Note: You may need to adjust the motion settings based on your requirements and environment



      Step 6: Click Event Management > Event Settings



      Step 7: Under Server Settings, click Add



      Step 8: Configure the Server Type:


      - Enter a name for the server (ie. In this example, we are configuring E-Mail)

      - Select the Server Type:

          - E-Mail- Motion Alerts will be sent to an E-Mail Address

          - FTP- Motion Alerts will be sent/uploaded to an FTP server

          - HTTP- Motion Alerts will be sent to an HTTP Server

          - Network Storage- Motion Alerts will be sent to Network Storage Device


      Once you have configured your server type, click Test to confirm the correct settings were entered.


      Note: If selecting E-Mail, you will need your e-mail providers SMTP settings- Click HERE for the most popular E-Mail Settings


      Important Note: If using a G-Mail Account- Please ensure Less Secure Apps is enabled in your Gmail Settings. - Why won't my camera work with my gmail account?



      You should receive a successful message



      Once your settings are confirmed, click Save and Close


      Step 9: Under Media Settings, click Add



      Step 10: Configure what you would like to save/send when motion is triggered. In this example, snapshots will be sent


      Click Save



      Step 11: Under Event Setup, click Add



      Step 12: Configure the Event:


      - Enter a Name for the Event (ie. Motion)

      - Enable the event

      - Trigger- Motion

      - Event Schedule- Specify when the event is active

      - Action- Select where to send the event when it triggers

          - Select E-Mail and your created Media Type (in step 10)


      - Click Save
